INDIANAPOLIS -- The Lucas Oil Stadium crowd is clearly frustrated with the Colts, booing the team several times Sunday amid a three-game skid that included the team's surprising decision to abandon its organizational plan and bench Anthony Richardson for veteran quarterback Joe Flacco.
Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen understands the fan's frustrations.
"Shoot, we've got to give them something to cheer about," Steichen said when asked about hearing boos. "We're not moving the ball. We've got to go back and get it cleaned up games."
Most of the fan base expected this season to be about developing Richardson through the ups and downs.
Richardson's struggles convinced Steichen that Flacco gave the team the best chance to win, a controversial decision that has not played out the way Indianapolis hoped through the first two games with Flacco as the team's starter.
Flacco,a 39-year-old who has been through a lot, knows the fans booing is a reflection of the way the team has played.
"This is a humbling game," Flacco said. "This league is tough. You're going to have to deal with things like that from time to time. It's unfortunate, you don't want to put yourself in those situations, but you can only look at yourself, I can only look at myself in those situations."
