The Culver City Police Department has released new details in the investigation of a fatal collision that claimed the life of a male pedestrian last week. According to the press release, the tragic incident took place at the intersection of National Boulevard and Wesley Street on the afternoon of Monday, September 30.
Authorities have disclosed that neither impairment nor speed played a role in the deadly event, as initially believed. After a meticulous examination of the scene, it was determined that, "the pedestrian unsafely entered the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound in the number two lane on National Boulevard," per the department's statement. Despite these findings, sorrow still colors the narrative, the department extends "our deepest sympathy to all affected by the collision."
The day of the incident, first responders from the Culver City Fire Department provided immediate medical aid to the victim and swiftly transported him to a nearby hospital. However, despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries. The involved driver cooperated fully with law enforcement officials at the scene. The closure of National Boulevard from Wesley Street to Eastham Drive was necessitated to permit investigators and forensic teams to process the fatal accident scene and gather essential evidence.
