Fire officials believe blaze at Danville house intentionally set

DANVILLE -- A fire that is believed to have been intentionally set caused an estimated $4,500 damage to a Danville home Monday evening.

While firefighters were en route to the blaze in the 1800 block of East Main Street, dispatchers reported that up to four people may be staying in the structure.

A search of the building, however, found no one inside.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing fire coming from the structure

Ameren Illinois assisted the department and determined there was no electrical or gas service to the building.

Fire units cleared the scene at 2:44 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Fire Chief Aaron Marcott said the fire is thought to be incendiary and is under investigation by the Danville Fire Department. The department was assisted by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office.
