Letters to the Editor -- Three cheers to Smiley Pool; Texans of the Year; Housing group

1 Smiley Pool -- What a great photograph by Dallas Morning News staff photographer Smiley N. Pool on the front page of Monday's SportsDay section. Although Cowboy nation won't like it, I bet Washington Commanders will applaud Pool's uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time.

Smiley displayed his photographic genius throughout The News' excellent coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics and he is still going strong. Great work, Mr. Pool.

Congrats on your excellent choices for 2024 Texans of the Year! I'm glad that The Dallas Morning News can see past the politics and recognize true heroes.

Thank goodness there are upstanding people such as Reps. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, and Joe Moody, D-El Paso, willing to brave the criticism and seek true justice.

Perhaps with outstanding Texans like these examples, justice may someday be a goal for all legislators and Texans.

3 Grand Prairie Housing Development Organization -- Three cheers for the Grand Prairie Housing Development Organization, Hope 4 All, the Housing Channel and Dallas County for their collaborative effort in planning and building affordable housing in the great state of Texas.

Their plan to have houses ready for occupancy in just one year's time shows what cooperation can do to help less wealthy citizens. The working-class citizens of Grand Prairie are grateful for the support. Thanks for setting an example.
