BRING THEM IN - The Buffalo Branch of the American Association of University Women reports that its volunteers are all caught up with sorting the donations for the annual AAUW book sale and need some more. Books can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 37 Anderson Road, Cheektowaga, as well as from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month. Dates for the sale are May 28 to June 1.

HEROIC - Eight Western New York Girl Scouts have received the Medal of Honor, one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting, for saving the life of a man who suffered cardiac arrest last summer near the Girl Scouts' World Center in the Swiss Alps. Accompanied by their leaders, the girls, who all have first aid and CPR training, contacted emergency services and provided care on the spot. Honorees are Annabelle Czekanski, Carliana Faller, Libby Higgins, Milani Hubman, Victoria Lesh, Charlotte McDonald, Ella Newell and Abigail Provost.
