(WJAR) -- The sale of six Steward Health Care hospitals is set to take effect on Monday.
It ends a turbulent era for Massachusetts health care.
In a rare Sunday bankruptcy hearing, a Texas judge had all parties involved discuss last-minute financial details.
Steward, based in Texas, filed for bankruptcy back in May.
The affected hospitals in Bristol County are Morton Hospital, and Saint Anne's Hospital. The others are Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, and Good Samaritan, which is being purchased by Boston Medical Center.
Rhode Island-based Lifespan is in a multi-million-dollar agreement to purchase Morton Hospital in Taunton and Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River.
Gov. Maura Healy's office has committed $417 million to help new operators keep the 5 Steward Health Care hospitals open.
According to testimony yesterday, the state has also contributed $90 million this year.
Amid this pending deal, Steward's embattled CEO Ralph de la Torre, announced he's resigning.
