Sandra Sherman, Fargo, is an optometric tech and single mom raising two boys who has been battling an autoimmune disease for more than a year. For the past year, she's endured procedures to stop esophageal bleeding and remove fluid from her abdomen. She has made countless trips to the Mayo Clinic for infusions, biopsies, and extensive consultation. Eventually, her liver will fail and a transplant will be necessary. Her friends and coworkers at Moorhead Vision Associates are hosting an online Lend A Hand Up fundraiser and planning a future benefit to help her with medical and living expenses.

Casey, Blake and Baby Girl Gordon, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, have been striving for a miracle baby for more than three years. They have experienced the blessing and the loss of three angel babies. They were overjoyed to learn that they were expecting a baby girl due in 2025. Their journey, however, has not been easy as Casey was recently diagnosed with severe preeclampsia which requires her to remain in the hospital while the couple and their medical team prepare for the baby's necessary preterm delivery.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, there will be an "All Together for Alden" benefit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Becker County Science Museum in Detroit Lakes. This family friendly-event will include a chili feed, silent auction, and opportunity to capture family photos.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, an "After Hours for Alden" benefit will be held 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pines in Davenport, North Dakota. There will be appetizers, entertainment, a silent auction, and wine toss.

Proceeds from both benefits will help Piper and Greg Mitchell who are the parents of two boys diagnosed with Hypoplastic Heart Syndrome. Harvey was born in March of 2023 and Alden was born in early November of 2024. It is extremely rare to have two children in the same family with this diagnosis which requires open heart surgery just days after birth followed by additional open-heart surgeries during their infant and childhood years.
