Is trash pickup affected by Veterans Day in and around the Columbus area?

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11 and trash pickup may be impacted for some central Ohio residents.

Within Columbus' city limits, many residents have weekly trash pickup days designated by colored zones. Each holiday, the zones rotate forward by one day, according to the city.

Residents in the city's navy collection zone, who have had their trash picked up on Mondays since Oct. 21, will move forward in the week and have their trash picked up the day after Veteran's Day. Tuesday will be those residents' pickup day until the next holiday, when it will rotate to Wednesday.

Most residents outside the city's color zones have a two-day window for trash pickup. For these residents, trash collection during the week of Veterans Day will occur on the second day in their two-day window. For example, if a household's window is Tuesday and Wednesday, their trash will be picked up Wednesday the week of Veterans Day.

Trash pickup in Columbus suburbs is largely unaffected by the holiday, a Dispatch review of local municipalities found.

Trash pickup will continue as normal in Westerville, Hilliard, Gahanna, Grove City, Pickerington, Powell, Upper Arlington, Dublin, New Albany, Plain City, Bexley, Whitehall and Worthington, according to each city.
