Golden Retrievers are well known for being a playful and friendly breed. Their good nature makes them excellent service dogs or companions for children. Even if they're doing something naughty, their effervescent personalities can make it hard to be mad.
This sneaky pup tested this theory with his brazen turkey thievery. It's one of those moments where security cameras totally pay off!
Check out his hilarious heist and the chase that ensued in this video from January 3:
What a rascal! Birmingham Live reports that this sneaky Golden Retriever showed off his naughty side during the holiday when a mom and her daughter delivered presents in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Perhaps this bad boy thought a raw turkey was the perfect gift for him because he was ready to challenge the little girl in the backseat to get it. This clever dog knew his audience, but the girl's protests of "No, Chuck, no!" did nothing to deter this canine criminal mastermind. LOL! Although this mother and daughter duo chased after him, he wasn't giving up his prize. Chuck's happy tail wags are too comical to resist, though it's easier to laugh when it's not your Christmas dinner in his mouth. Hopefully, they could finally retrieve the turkey from this excited dog and at least cook it for him.

People stood up for Chuck. Viewer @therealenworb responded, "Go on, Chuck. He deserves it. Tirelessly and thanklessly working all year to spread love and joy." That's undoubtedly true. Viewer @burtjanis remarked, "Just needed a good wash in salt water, and it's as good as new. Ignore the teeth marks. It's just like in the wild catching your dinner." Ha! Another responded, "That's one proud dog with the best Christmas dinner. You gotta love him!" It's hard not to cheer for the merry fellow.
Is Raw Turkey Safe for Dogs?
The consensus among experts is that raw turkey is not recommended for dogs. It can contain dangerous bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which may cause food poisoning. Even though dogs have stomach acid that can destroy some bacteria, there's no assurance that all harmful pathogens will be neutralized. This could cause digestive problems like vomiting, diarrhea, or even more serious health issues. While others praise raw diets for dogs, citing benefits like reduced allergies, discussing with your vet before making significant dietary changes is always recommended.
Though this glorious Golden goofball may have been acting a bit naughty, hopefully, Santa didn't hold it against him. After all, it's not like he was trying to ruin Christmas dinner.
