It is with deep sorrow that the family of the late Julie Tavares announces her passing on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the age of 55, surrounded by her loved ones at home, where she found comfort and peace.
Julie was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to parents Antonio Borgo and Pasqualina Primosig. She was raised with love and care by Pasqualina and her stepfather, Giuseppe Primosig, who was a cherished figure in her life and a beloved "Nonno" to her children.
Julie met her soulmate, Adriano, at the young age of 22, and together, they embarked on a lifelong journey of love and devotion. They settled in Adriano's family home on Jean Street in Thunder Bay, where their family began to grow. On January 14, 1993, they were blessed with beautiful twin daughters, Emily and Cassandra. Two years later, on August 6, 1995, Julie and Adriano were married at St. Anthony's Church, surrounded by family and friends. Their first family home on Regina Avenue became a place of warmth, love, and laughter. There, on September 3, 1996, they welcomed their son, Brandon, into the world, completing their family.
Before becoming a wife and mother, Julie spent many memorable summers in Italy with her family, where she developed a deep appreciation for life, love, and family. Julie's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to those she loved. She gave everything to her family, always putting the needs of others before her own, and worked tirelessly to create a nurturing home for her children. She took immense pride in hosting family gatherings and preparing delicious, homemade meals that brought everyone together. Julie had a special gift for decorating and always added her personal touch to every occasion.
Above all, Julie cherished the time spent with her family - whether it was at the family camp, on vacations, at concerts, or celebrating holidays. Even while raising three children, she maintained her grace, always presenting herself beautifully, with a keen eye for fashion, perfect outfits, matching jewelry (her signature "bling"), and impeccable hair and makeup. She loved her flowers, basking in the sunshine, and enjoying music, particularly the songs of Celine Dion. Julie's 50th birthday gift of attending a Celine Dion concert was one of her most treasured memories.
Julie and Adriano also shared a love for their classic cars, particularly their matching 1980 Camaros, which they enjoyed cruising in together.
Julie was a beloved wife, mother, and friend, whose kindness, caring heart, and infectious laughter touched everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love and joy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be missed dearly, but her light will continue to shine in our hearts, as constant and bright as the sun that warms us each day.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband Adriano, daughters Cassandra and Emily (Michael Stansell), son Brandon, her mother Pasqualina Primosig, and her brothers Dennis Borgo and David Primosig.
Julie is predeceased by her father Antonio Borgo and stepfather Guiseppe Primosig.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and family for their support and generosity during this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to us.
A funeral mass in Julie's memory will be held in St. Anthony's RC Church on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Joseph Arockian and Deacon Pasquale Coccimiglio. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Floral tributes will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in care of Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
