The Forsyth County Board of Elections on Friday unanimously ruled against a voter registration challenge that claimed Democrat Amy North does not live in N.C. House District 74, where she is mounting a campaign against incumbent Republican Jeff Zenger for the seat.
North presented evidence ranging from her driver's license documentation to affidavits from neighbors who have seen her living at the house on Lismore Street in Clemmons where North is registered to vote. Photos entered into evidence showed her moving into the Lismore Street house in October of 2023 and celebrating Halloween there with her children.
The attorney for Nancy Siebert, who filed the challenge, argued that evidence showed North continues to have such a strong attachment to a house in Old Salem she bought in 2022 that it shows she has not intended to abandon that house as her home.
That house is outside District 74. North would be ineligible to represent the district had it been found that she does not live there.
