Days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers signed center Christian Koloko to a two-way contract. Koloko, a second-round draft pick back in 2022, showed a bit of promise as a rookie, but he didn't play at all last season because of a blood clot issue.
Koloko, 24, is a seven-footer who has an impressive 7-foot-5 wingspan. He has the potential to become a serviceable rim protector and a strong finisher at the rim, but he is very much a project player at this point.
Although Koloko is now officially a member of the Lakers' roster, he has yet to be cleared by the NBA to return to game action. But he told TMZ that he feels great and that his doctors feel he's ready to play again.

On the other hand, he said he has talked to LeBron James and Anthony Davis and that he's ready to help his new team.
The backup center spot is arguably the Lakers' biggest roster weakness right now. Jaxson Hayes, their main backup 5 last season, doesn't always play with aggression and intensity, and big man Christian Wood will be out for at least the next several weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
