HOUSTON (KIAH) -- Fans of the Houston Texans are passionate about their team and their city. But do they use a lot of foul language to get their point across?
A study done on all the NFL fanbases suggests that Texans fans use swear words more than only five other NFL team fanbases. FlashPicks, a betting site, suggests that Texans fans have a score of 7.2 out of 10, using 207 curse words in the Texans' Reddit fan forum in the last year alone.
Detroit Lions fans are the rudest fans in the NFL, with a score of 10 out of 10. A staggering 288 curse words were posted in the Lions' Reddit fan forum in the last year alone. Lions fans' favorite curse word was found to be the 'F-word', which was used 59 times.
Las Vegas Raiders fans were second, and Pittsburgh Steelers fans were third.
Callum Broxton, Head of Operations at FlashPicks said: "Passion is a hallmark for NFL fans across the US, with fans showing their support for their teams in a range of different ways, whether it be in the stadium cheering on their team or posting support on social media.
Texans fans' favorite word is the "F-word," which was used 59 times in the Texans subreddit forum of over 152,300 fans.
In comparison, the Dallas Cowboys fans rank in 20th place for the most foul-mouthed fanbase, with a score of 4.6 out of 10. Cowboys fans' posts included 134 curse words from their 442,200 fans on their subreddit.
However, one thing Cowboys fans do have in common with Texans fans is their favorite curse word, which was found to be the 'F-word' and used a considerable 35 times.
The Texans' archrivals, the Tennessee Titans, fans rank in 27th place with a score of 3 out of 10. The Titans' fanbase of 136,200 people on Reddit posted just 86 curse words -- less than half the number of curse words posted by Texans fans.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Jacksonville Jaguars fans were found to be the politest fanbase in the NFL, with a score of 1.6 out of 10. The Jaguars fans on their subreddit posted just 48 swear words in the last year.
