Denver International Airport officials are preparing to close the A-Bridge linking DIA's main terminal to concourses as part of a re-configuration and expansion of security screening checkpoints.
The A-Bridge will close Monday-Thursday from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting next week as construction begins to remove the current A-Bridge security station, officials announced on Friday. Starting Dec. 9, TSA crews no longer will conduct regular screening at that station.
Near the end of 2025, DIA officials will open up a new east security checkpoint in the main terminal that they expect will make passenger screening more efficient.
During the closures, travelers in DIA must use the airport's internal train to move from the terminal to concourses for flights.
At the end of next year, travelers who have cleared security screening at the west and east checkpoints in the airport's main terminal will be able to walk across the bridge to reach A Concourse flights without taking a train. The views of the mountains, however, will be hidden when construction is finished.
Part of the bridge corridor will become a secure area for airport administrative offices.
"Opening this corridor to all screened passengers provides more options for travelers to walk to Concourse A without having to get on the train, although they can still ride the train if they choose," airport chief executive Phil Washington said in a statement.
