The College Football Playoff race continues to change with each passing week, especially on Saturday.
The No. 6 BYU Cougars lost their first game of the season on Saturday after being upset by the Kansas Jayhawks. ESPN BET favored the Cougars by two and a half points in Provo.
BYU was not the only Big 12 team to suffer an upset on the weekend. The No. 16 Kansas State Wildcats were seven-and-a-half-point favorites on ESPN BET but lost 24-14 to the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The biggest upset of the weekend was the No. 18 Washington State Cougars' loss to New Mexico. Washington State was favored by 11.5 points on ESPN BET and lost 38-35.
The game of the week was the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers taking on the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens. Georgia beat Tennessee 31-17 with its College Football Playoff hopes on the line.
On a recent episode of "Always College Football," Greg McElroy was impressed by Georgia's win and said the program "isn't dead yet."
"Let's kick off things with the big game of the week," McElroy said. "Let's evaluate what we make of the Georgia Bulldogs, all right? Takeaway number one. Georgia isn't dead yet, and maybe their quarterback is back on track."
After throwing 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his last six games leading up to Saturday, quarterback Carson Beck was consistent. Beck finished the evening with 347 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 25 of 40 passing attempts.
The Bulldogs missed the playoff last season after losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game. However, the playoff has now expanded to include 12 teams.
Georgia faces UMass on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
