James Woods says his home has miraculously survived the Pacific Palisades fire.
The Oscar-nominated actor believed that his home had been destroyed in the unfolding Los Angeles wildfire disaster, like thousands of others.
But "a miracle has happened. We managed to get to our property and our home, that we were told is gone forever, is still standing," he wrote Friday on X. "In this hellish landscape 'standing' is relative, but smoke and other damage is not like the utter destruction around us."
The 77-year-old star shared a video shot from his deck, emotionally listing off all the structures that have disappeared from the surrounding hillside, including his neighbors' homes.
Previously, Woods wrote on X, "I do not know at this moment if our home is still standing, but sadly, houses on our little street are not."
Woods detailed his family's harrowing evacuation during an interview with Pamela Brown on CNN. He said they were in the "exact epicenter of the fire as it started" and were forced to evacuate with the "clothes on our back."
"There was so much chaos. It was like an inferno," he told CNN. "Every house was on fire around us."
Woods got emotional at various points throughout the interview and said he had only recently moved into the home after three years of renovations. The star also helped orchestrate the rescue of his 94-year-old neighbor, who has dementia.
Pacific Palisades is an affluent, celebrity-filled residential neighborhood about 20 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler and Michael Keaton all call the area home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Celebrities including Billy Crystal, Mel Gibson, Milo Ventimiglia and Ricki Lake have confirmed they've lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires.
