A Friday night crackdown on impaired drivers yielded multiple arrests.

Santa Rosa police announced the five drivers were arrested at a DUI checkpoint at Piner Road and Coffey Lane from 8 p.m. through midnight. During the operation, 871 vehicles were contacted and 10 suspected impaired drivers were evaluated.

The checkpoint also led to 22 citations for driving without a license. One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license, and another was cited for violating probation terms and possessing drug paraphernalia.

The locations of DUI checkpoints are determined through reported car crashes involving impaired drivers, the police department said. The California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provided funding to carry out the checkpoint through a grant.
