What Did Jets' Sauce Gardner Say After Controversial Few Days?

It hasn't been the smoothest week for New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.

The entire season hasn't been what Gardner could have hoped for, for that matter.

While New York's All-Pro corner still has above-average Pro Football Focus coverage grades, the overall grades haven't been nearly as dominant as his first two seasons in the league.

Whether it has been his poor tackling, run defense, or increase in penalties, Gardner's inconsistencies have been matched only by the frustrations of the fanbase at him.

During the week, Gardner responded to several fans and reporters who had criticized his play. Days after his social media tirade, the Jets' 24-year-old cornerback took responsibility for his actions and his struggling play.

"Me being a leader of the team, of the defense, I can't be on social media with my emotions saying certain stuff. I know better. My coaches know that I know better. My teammates know that I know better. I've just got to be better."

Much like most players on the Jets, Gardner's tackling concerns have been something that has been heavily criticized over the last few weeks. It's a big reason why the team has dropped six of the last seven games to this point in the season.

Gardner's play in general has been a staggering change from his normal elite self. The coverage grades aren't where his All-Pro status has been.

And it's left the fanbase worrying about things both on and off the field overall.
