These counties have the highest reported crime rates in Montana per capita.
A man who Flathead County officials accused of kidnapping a woman in Missoula and leading law enforcement on two separate foot chases in April has been released from jail after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.
Adam J. Whiteman pleaded guilty on Sept. 26 to one charge of felony criminal endangerment, after the Flathead County Attorney's Office amended the charges from felony kidnapping. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors also dropped two misdemeanor charges of partner or family member assault and escape.
Prosecutors recommended Whiteman be released on his own recognizance, and the plea deal calls for a recommended sentence of three years in prison, all suspended. His sentencing is set for Nov. 14.

Whiteman, who was 24 years old at the time of his April arrest, had been held in the Flathead County jail on $250,000 bail after prosecutors alleged he was a flight risk and a threat to public safety.
Charging documents filed earlier this year alleged that Whiteman had stolen a woman's car and forced her to ride with him from Missoula to Browning. She was able to escape near Columbia Falls, prosecutors alleged, and made the report to police.
Law enforcement eventually arrested Whiteman along U.S. Highway 2 near the Nyack Ranger Station, charges state.
