CTBs come in different sizes and are divided into two types. Regular packages and scientific packages. Packages are arranged in the gateway module, which is not difficult to do. I chose a circular layout so I have 318 CTBs (equivalent to 6156.8 kg) and a 1.2m x 1.6m crew translation path dimensions, enough to meet the requirement of 160 CTBs and 0.8m x 1.1m crew translation path dimensions.
This research I did from NASA Challenge _ Lunar Gateway Cargo Packing and Storing. Now I try to write a process I created and also improve its design.
First, this sketch is how it works. Before we land on a new planet, we need a gateway flying around that planet with all the necessary cargo. The goal of this design is to handle 160 CTBs(*) (Loaded Bag Mass 4963.5kg) and have a crew path size of 0.8x1.1m.
Most of the designs need simple operation, meaning manual but in some cases I think we need a backup plan for a fully automated gateway like just for landing robots. That's why I challenged myself to design a fully automated option.
