Traffic on the Northwest Side of San Antonio had a moment of slow downs after an "obstruction" was reported on the highway. At around 10 a.m., traffic monitoring site SigAlert reported the object on I-10 between Medical Drive and Wurzbach Road. The object blocked two right westbound lanes of traffic.
Transguide cameras from the incident showed crews working to remove the object from the highway. It didn't take long for crews to complete the job. The object was cleared from the road before 10:30 a.m. and traffic was flowing back to normal.
MySA reached out to the Texas Department of Transportation to learn what exactly was obstructing traffic on I-10. This isn't the first time an object has obstructed a highway. Back in May, an unknown object was reported on the northbound lanes of I-35 between Burbank and Highway 90. The object made the far right lane of I-35 North near the intersection with Highway 90 inaccessible, causing drivers to merge over and backing up traffic.
Last month, a viral video showed a mattress flying across Loop 410. The mattress could be seen falling out of a vehicle and going across several lanes of of traffic narrowly missing a driver.
A TxDOT spokesperson told MySA earlier this year that about 36,834 large items were found on Texas roadways in 2023, and some whopping 362 million pieces of litter collect on Texas highways each year, according to data from the state.
