The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises. The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.
GRC has been one of the pioneers of anticipatory action and has been implementing the approach in the region since 2015. GRC's regional programme on anticipatory action currently provides technical support to 13 National Societies in their work on anticipatory action, especially in the development of Early Action Protocols. Since 2019, GRC together with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and the RC/RC Climate Centre, hosts the Anticipation Hub, a platform for exchange and knowledge sharing on anticipatory action.
GRC is currently seeking an Anticipatory Action Coordinator Americas (m/f/d), based in Honduras. The delegate leads GRC's work on anticipatory action in the region; represents GRC in regional exchanges relating to anticipatory action, and serves as the regional focal point of the Anticipation Hub. He/she is responsible for the implementation of the GRC regional programme on anticipatory action and ensures the technical coordination and quality back-stopping of the anticipatory action components of other GRC supported projects in the region, in coordination with the Head of Office.
The GRC office is located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and was established in 2019. The Anticipatory Action Coordinator reports to the Head of Office (HoO) in Honduras with a technical line to the Anticipatory Action Unit at GRC HQ.
