HS ROUNDUP: Berwick gets past Holy Redeemer in four sets

WILKES-BARRE - Angie Colone had a big night to lead Berwick to a 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-11 win over Holy Redeemer Tuesday night in Wyoming Valley Conference volleyball.

Colone had 14 points, 17 digs, eight kills and four aces for the Bulldogs. Jaiden Laidacker had 11 points and four aces, Zoey Force added 14 points and 19 digs, and Makayla Brown ended 23 assists and 14 digs.

For the Royals, Bella Boylan had 15 kills, 12 digs and 13 points, and teammate Megan Albrecht added 21 assists, 10 digs, five kills and six blocks.

The victory puts Berwick in sole possession of first in the conference as the Bulldogs improve to 8-2.

Tunkhannock 3, Pittston Area 0

At Tunkhannock, Hayden Driscole had five kills and eight digs to lead Tunkhannock to a three-set sweep of Pittston Area. Set scores were 25-9, 25-18 and 25-11.

Maya Gunderson had seven kills and three digs, and Olivia Yuhas added 15 assists. Junior Maddie Holdredge added two kills, two aces and two digs.

Dallas 3, Hanover Area 0

At Hanover Area, Ava Adams had 11 kills to pace Dallas to a straight sweep of Hanover Area. Set scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-11.

Adams added 10 points and four aces, and Lilly Horsefield finished with 10 digs, eight points and four aces. Teammate Karly Kovitch ended with five digs and five points.

For Hanover Area, Aliyah Samkough ended with two kills, and Amelia MacLunny had two points.

Wyoming Area 3, Valley View 1

At Wyoming Area, Taylor Gashi had a big match with 15 kills in a four-set victory over the Cougars. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-15.

Gashi added 17 digs, and Madison Spittel had 12 digs. Ava Boyle and Kaia Brown combined with 25 assists, and Sara Pealer added eight kills.

Amelia Pulman had seven points for Valley View, and Nevaeh Evans ended 12 assists.

Wilkes-Barre Area 3, Pittston Area 1

At Wilkes-Barre Area on Monday, Norah Corchado had 12 kills and six service points and Jazym Espinoza had 18 service points in Wilkes-Barre Area's win. Makiya Vanderburg had six kills for the Wolfpack.

Maddie Karp scored four times in Pittston Area's 12-0 win over Berwick Tuesday night in WVC field hockey.

For Karp, it was her 60th career goal, and 25th goal of the 2024 season.

Julia Homschek also scored three times for the Patriots, which held a 24-3 edge in shots.

At Mountaineer Stadium, Maggie Smith found the back of the cage twice in the Mountaineers' win.

Smith added two assists to her two goals. Brianna Casey, Caitlyn Mizzer and Kate Dautrich also had goals for Dallas.

Sophie Fontano, Ava Caruso, Olivia Karp and Ava Hoffman all scored for 'Paupack. Krysta Shreve recorded the lone Hawkeye goal.

Miguel Galeno took the assist from Diego Leva and scored the game-winning goal in second overtime as Wilkes-Barre Area held off Wyoming Valley West, 5-4, Tuesday.

Johnny Mendola recorded a hat trick for the Wolfpack, and Robbie Miller also scored for WBA.

Chase Evanofski led Valley West with two goals.

Crestwood swept the singles matches en route to a 4-1 win over Tamaqua in nonleague play Monday.

Hannah Ziegler, Cameron Carlos and Ella Richards all won in straight sets. The second doubles' team of Lucy Malia and Kendall Petrosky also won 6-2, 6-2.
