Wind advisory affecting North Carolina until early Thursday evening, says the NWS

On Wednesday at 7:02 p.m. a wind advisory was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA. The advisory is for Surry, Wilkes, Patrick, Franklin, Bedford and Amherst counties.

West winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected for Surry and Wilkes counties. In Virginia, Amherst, Bedford, Patrick, and Franklin counties until 4 p.m. Thursday. The NWS states, "The strongest wind will be along the crest of the Blue Ridge, mainly between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m."

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," adds the NWS. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects, including holiday decorations."
