INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -- Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters battled fires at a former Marsh grocery store building on back-to-back days.
Starting at 11:23 p.m. Saturday, firefighters took three hours and 36 minutes to mark a heavy fire under control after it broke out in a vacant building in the 6300 block of East Washington Street. The building is the former site of a Marsh Supermarkets grocery store.
After arriving to the scene, firefighters found smoke and fire pushing from three sides of the single-story building. Within minutes, the west side of the building collapsed.
There were no reported injuries during the incident. Neighbors in the area told investigators that squatters frequent the building.
Around 6:17 p.m. Sunday, another fire broke out in the same building. Investigators did not immediately provide any additional information on what might have caused the second fire.
