Mead Board of Trustees: Brad Hagen

By Matthew Bennett

Mead Board of Trustees: Brad Hagen

Professional background: Civil engineer / Consulting engineer, business owner.

Political/community experience: St. Vrain Sanitation Board (8 years total / 6 years as president); Various committees with the Town of Frederick

Education: Master's degree in hydraulic / water resources engineering

Do you support the town of Mead's Ballot Issue 2Q that, if approved, would increase taxes to fund public safety, why or why not?

I unequivocally support law enforcement and proper training. However, with a weakening economy, a new tax could impact struggling residents, so I would reserve judgement until receiving more information regarding how this new tax would be allocated.

Do you support the town of Mead's Ballot Issue 2R that, if approved, would authorize a limited number of medical and retail marijuana businesses to operate within the town, why or why not?

I support the vote of the people on this issue. Tax revenues are welcome but so is the quiet culture of the town.

What do you feel is the most pressing local issue for Mead voters this election cycle and what would you do as a trustee to address it?

Staff should be public servants; board actions should reflect the will of the residents; private property rights should be respected and protected. (I want) transparency and accountability in government, budget management, code revisions and staff redirection.
