Solano Community Foundation offers teacher grants

FAIRFIELD -- The Solano Community Foundation on Wednesday announced three new programs

The foundation has $25,000 to award $1,000 "Make Learning Fun!" grants

"This new microgrant program provides direct funding to teachers for classroom projects, helping to ignite creativity and enhance learning experiences for students across the county. We want to support the educators who are shaping our future generation by giving them the tools to make learning a dynamic and enjoyable process," Leslie Janik, the new chief executive officer of the foundation noted in a newsletter.

Janik took over the reins of the foundation about one month ago.

"As I reflect on my first month leading the Solano Community Foundation, I'm filled with gratitude for the warm welcome and inspired by the incredible work happening across our community. It's been an energizing start, and I'm honored to lead this foundation as we enter a new chapter of growth, impact, and innovation," Janik stated.

The second new program is "Building Community Muscle" events.

"We're also ramping up our collaborative efforts with a series of 'Building Community Muscle' events, designed to bring nonprofits, elected officials and community advocates together. These events will focus on exploring funding opportunities and building stronger partnerships, with the next event taking place on Oct. 29 in Fairfield," the newsletter stated.

The third new offering is the "New Volunteer Program."

"We're excited to welcome volunteers into the Solano Community Foundation as we launch our new Volunteer Program," the newsletter states. "This initiative is not only a way to connect to the needs of the county in a meaningful way, but also provides a pathway for students to meet their volunteer hour requirements. By engaging directly with SCF, volunteers will gain valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing our community. We believe this program will deepen connections and create a stronger foundation for long-term, impactful community service."

The foundation office is located at 744 Empire St, Suite 240, in Fairfield.
