Serena Williams says she had a benign cyst removed from her neck and 'all is OK'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Serena Williams says she had a benign branchial cyst "the size of a small grapefruit" removed from her neck and "all is OK." The retired tennis star posted Wednesday on social media that she found a lump on her neck in May, had an MRI exam, and was told she didn't need to get it removed if she didn't want to. So she didn't then, "but it kept growing," Williams wrote. After more tests, including a biopsy that was negative for cancer, Williams said, her doctors said she should have a procedure. Williams turned 43 last month.

Menendez brothers' family to push for their release as prosecutors review 1989 case

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The extended family of Erik and Lyle Menendez will advocate for the brothers' release from prison following the 1989 killings of their parents in Beverly Hills. Wednesday's news conference in downtown Los Angeles comes after the LA County district attorney announced that prosecutors are reviewing new evidence to determine whether they should be serving life sentences. The brothers admitted to the crime but at the time said they feared their parents were about to kill them to prevent the disclosure of the father's long-term sexual molestation of Erik. Erik Menendez, now 53, and his 56-year-old brother, Lyle Menendez, are currently incarcerated in state prison without the possibility of parole.

The world's second Sphere will be built in the UAE capital after the first opened in Las Vegas

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- The world's second Sphere will be built in the capital of the United Arab Emirates after the opening of the first in Las Vegas. Abu Dhabi's culture department and the Sphere owner announced the plan late Tuesday. The announcement offered no financing information, nor did it say where the Sphere would be built in the Emirati capital. Officials with the Sphere and Abu Dhabi's government did not immediately respond to questions Wednesday. The Las Vegas Sphere opened in 2023 as the gambling capital's most-expensive entertainment venue. Abu Dhabi has been trying to differentiate itself as a travel destination from neighboring Dubai. The announcement also comes as the UAE is preparing to open its first casino.

October's supermoon pairs with a comet for a special nighttime spectacle

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- October's supermoon is the closest of the year and it's teaming up with a comet for a rare stargazing two-for-one. The moon will be 222,055 miles away Wednesday night, making it seem even bigger and brighter than the August and September supermoons. It will reach its full lunar phase Thursday. In a twist of comic fate, a comet is in the neighborhood. Discovered last year, the comet made its closest approach Saturday, passing within 44 million miles of Earth. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, look for the comet after sunset in the western sky to the right of Venus.

Bills acquire wide receiver Amari Cooper from Browns, giving QB Josh Allen a much-needed playmaker

The Buffalo Bills upgraded their patchwork group of receivers by acquiring Amari Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. Buffalo gave up a third-round pick in the 2025 draft as part of the trade that also included a swap of late-round picks. The trade was made a day after the Bills expanded their lead atop the AFC East with a 23-20 win over their division rival New York Jets. The Browns' decision to trade one of their top players could be a sign of the team giving up on a season growing worse by the week after Cleveland dropped to 1-5 with a loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.

How Jose Iglesias' 'OMG' became the perfect anthem for the underdog Mets

NEW YORK (AP) -- It's a pop hit like many others, with an ascending chorus, an addictive hook, a warm rhythm. But "OMG" has become the perfect anthem for Jose Iglesias' New York Mets. The infielder performs the song under the musical moniker Candelita. The song is contemporary Latin pop, incorporating elements of reggaetón and tropical music. Music critic Gary Suarez says those are pop sounds heard all over Latin America and the U.S. He says it's positive message and bilingual chorus allows it to connect with the Mets' broad audience. It's already racked up millions of streams as the Mets continue their unlikely playoff run.

Lawyers for Sean 'Diddy' Combs ask judge to release identities of his accusers

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs are asking a New York judge to force prosecutors to disclose the names of his accusers in his sex trafficking case. The lawyers said in a filing Tuesday in Manhattan federal court that the hip-hop music maker must know the identities of his alleged victims to prepare for trial. A prosecutor's spokesperson declined comment. A May 5 trial date has been set for Combs, who remains incarcerated without bail. His lawyers are appealing that order, hoping to get him freed to home detention. Judges so far have concluded he is a danger to the community.

Stewart said Xargay has filed a complaint with police at the advice of the team and security. Stewart had a chance to win Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, but missed one of two free throws with 0.8 seconds left in regulation and then a potential tying layup at the overtime buzzer.

Tom Brady's purchase of a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders is approved by NFL team owners

ATLANTA (AP) -- Tom Brady's purchase of a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders has been approved by NFL team owners. The seven-time Super Bowl champion who played 23 seasons with the Patriots and Buccaneers takes approximately 5% control of the Raiders. Brady needed to receive 24 of 32 votes, which happened Tuesday at the league's annual fall meeting. The 47-year-old Brady can't come of out retirement and play again unless he sells his stake in the team. It took owners 17 months to approve the deal because of concerns Brady was receiving too much of a discount from Raiders majority owner Mark Davis.

Protesters demand Kellogg remove artificial colors from Froot Loops and other cereals

Dozens of people have rallied outside the Michigan headquarters of WK Kellogg Co. to demand that the company remove artificial dyes from their cereals in the U.S. The maker of Froot Loops and Apple Jacks announced nearly a decade ago that it would remove artificial colors and ingredients from its products by 2018. But in the U.S., Kellogg cereals still contain artificial colors and BHT, a chemical preservative. Activists said Tuesday that they were delivering petitions with more than 400,000 signatures asking the company to make the change. WK Kellogg said in a statement that its products are safe and comply with federal regulations.
