Greensboro records first homicide of 2025

Greensboro recorded its first homicide of 2025 a few hours into the new year.

Greensboro Police reported that Shakeem Latif Peterson-Brock, 29, died of a gunshot wound at a local hospital. Police responded to a reported shooting in the 2600 block of Lawndale on Wednesday at 1:13 a.m. There, they found Peterson Brock suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Around 1:26 a.m., a second gunshot victim wounded at the same location arrived at a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Detectives are investigating potential leads, a police report said.
