NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) -- A man is in custody and facing charges after he was identified in a November 2024 storage unit burglary in which several expensive items were taken and resold.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, the U-Haul Self Storage on Gallatin Pike in Madison was broken into and three storage units were burglarized on November 11, 2024.
The affidavit states that the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Russell Gillespie, and an unidentified woman, gained access to the storage property through a chain link fence, causing nearly $900 in damage.

All three units belonged to the same person, according to the responding officers' report.
According to the affidavit, one of the guitars, an Epiphone SG Standard, was sold to Guitar Center on Rivergate Parkway the next day. Gillespie was connected to the sale through surveillance footage at the storage facility and his driver's license, which he provided during the guitar sale.
Gillespie was arrested on January 15, 2025, and booked in Davidson County Jail on burglary, theft of property, and vandalism charges.
