With the certification process complete, the voting tabulators are ready for deployment for the upcoming General Election
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, the Los Alamos County (LAC) Clerk's Office successfully completed the certification and preparation of the Election Voting Machines for the upcoming General Election on Nov. 5, 2024.
The testing resulted in a perfect match between the test votes cast and the recorded results. In addition, the voting machines underwent rigorous functional testing to ensure that all components -- including buttons, connections, and the audio-visual ballot marking interface -- operate correctly. The security component of the voting machine testing and certification process is crucial, as it ensures that all devices are rigorously evaluated for vulnerabilities, guaranteeing the integrity and reliability of the electoral system.
"Our top priority is ensuring the integrity and security of the election. The logic and accuracy testing process played a critical role in this effort, as we rigorously tested each voting machine to confirm that it was counting ballots correctly," County Clerk Naomi Maestas said. "This transparent and thorough process was designed to instill confidence in voters that their ballots would be securely and accurately counted. We invited the public to observe these tests, reinforcing our commitment to open and secure elections."
