Former NFL Star Mitchell Schwartz Blasts Browns Over Refusal To Bench Deshaun Watson

Seemingly, the only people who think they don't need to bench Deshaun Watson are the people who are in charge of the decision. Former NFL All-Pro and Super Bowl Champion Mitchell Schwartz has had enough of Watson, and he feels bad for Watson's teammates.

Deshaun Watson actually had one of his better games on Sunday this season, though that's not saying much. He was 16-23 for 168 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. On the surface, that's really not that bad. But, at one point. Watson hit a streak of not converting 26 3rd downs in a row before finally breaking through in the 2nd half with a few conversions. But, ultimately, he led an offense that could only muster one touchdown in the 20-16 loss. His team is clearly uninspired by someone who is supposed to be their leader.

It's not fair to his teammates for the Browns to continue to run out a player no one believes in, and that's exactly what is making Mitchell Schwartz, who played for the Browns from 2012-2015 before going on to star with the Chiefs from 2016-2020, angry.

Schwartz quote-tweeted a tweet that stated Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski was sticking with Watson and had this to say.

"It's incredibly s -- - to do this to the rest of the team. Joel Bitonio is out there every week playing through who knows what and has to wreck his body when they have no chance of being good b/c of the QB. Myles Garrett is playing in pain every week. Feel for everyone else there"

He went on to say this, in a different tweet, when asked if he thought backup Jameis Winston would really make a difference.

"Don't know what will happen. But everything says Watson is terrible. Eye test, advanced data, etc. You think the offense is going to be worse? Any other team would bench a similarly performing QB just to see if Jameis could give a spark and what would happen. The OL last year was hurt and bad and Flacco played way better than Watson. Then the team played better overall."

Sadly, for Browns fans, it doesn't seem like relief is coming any time soon.
