Given the lack of rain for both September and October, the Ozarks are due for a good soaking. Mother Nature will be doing its best over the next couple of days to reduce the rainfall deficit.
Rain won't be arriving for the start of Saturday. Temperatures will be sticking to comfy cool levels as highs will only climb to the upper 60s. Clouds will be increasing throughout the day. We will manage to stay dry until overnight tonight.
Tonight kicks off the first of three major waves of thunderstorm activity. Rain will carry throughout the night with heaviest totals occurring to the West. This wave wraps up Sunday afternoon.
Wave 2 of thunderstorms arrive Sunday night into the start of Monday morning. This wave will be more widespread and intense than the first as there is a slight risk of severe weather. The third and final wave of wet weather is scheduled to arrive Monday night into the start of Election Tuesday.
When all is said and done, rain totals will be impressive. Many people in the Ozarks are under the gun of 2-4'' inches. Totals in localized pockets can be even higher. I would not be surprised if some areas manage to pick up 5-8'' of rain between now and Tuesday.
Temperatures for this week will remain at fall-like levels as highs will be contained to the 60s and 70s. Additionally, I have no concerns about freezing temperatures occurring this week.
