Paul Finebaum Slams 'Absurd' Hype Around Undefeated College Football Team

The college football season has not disappointed up to this point, as several surprising storylines have emerged. One is the unexpected 9-0 start by the Indiana Hoosiers in head coach Curt Cignetti's first season.

This marks the best start in program history and the most wins since 1967. This impressive season has the Hoosiers ranked No. 8 in the AP poll, their highest ranking since 2020.

On the "Paul Finebaum Show," the SEC Network analyst noted that while he finds Cignetti impressive, the praise for the Hoosiers is over the top.

"I'm impressed by Curt Cignetti," Finebaum said. "He's a fantastic coach. It's a great story. But it's absurd to give them too much credit."

Finebaum mentioned that one of the most interesting aspects of the College Football Playoff rankings, which will be announced on at 7 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN, is determining the Hoosiers' ranking. He is curious about the amount of credit the committee will give them for their undefeated start.

Indiana is focused on continuing to win to secure a playoff spot. The next stop on that quest is Saturday against the Michigan Wolverines (5-4), who have lost three of their past four games. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
