COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - As people were celebrating the new year early Wednesday morning in Columbia, one family was welcoming new life into the world.
Wells Conner Nelms was the first baby born in 2025 at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia.
He was born at 3:47 a.m., 6 lb and 14.6 oz.
According to a news release from Prisma Health, the baby's father is an emergency medicine resident physician who was working in the emergency department when the baby's mother went into labor.
"The new parents say they are thankful for the support they have received from the Emergency Medicine Residency here in Columbia, as their professional family welcomes the newest member of their personal family," the news release said.
