The No. 9-ranked Santa Barbara City College women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the year when they bested Glendale College in three sets on Wednesday at Robertson Gymnasium at UCSB.
SBCC claimed the first set 25-10, before Glendale challenged them in a back-and-forth second set, ultimately claimed by Santa Barbara 25-22.
"It's always great to get another win, especially at home in front of our friends and family," said head coach Kat Niksto. "We were asking the girls to step outside of their comfort zone and try some new defensive alignments, and I thought they did a good job of doing everything we asked of them, even when it felt uncomfortable.
"I'm so excited about the potential and growth of this young team with experienced leadership. We are heading into an extended road trip period as our next home game isn't for two weeks."
SBCC finished off the match with a 25-20 win in the third set.
Outside hitter Bayley Padia filled the stat sheet with eight kills, three aces, and 12 digs. Libero Valeria Bellodas added a team-high 13 digs and another three aces while Kaylin Cooney paced the Santa Barbara attack with 10 kills.
Stephanie Groswirt continued her well-rounded play this season with eight kills, nine digs and 15 assists, while Morgan Guardado led SBCC with 18 assists in the match.
The Vaqueros take on El Camino College on Friday in Torrance.
