Be fair
You need a fact checker. You quote Rep. Jay Dean (news story, Sept. 13) as saying: "We don't want a brain drain on Pine Tree High School. We don't want (private schools) taking the best of our best and leaving us with everybody else."
Parents seek out private schools because the public schools have failed them.
Records reveal that St. Mary's Catholic School's current population is 72% students of color and 30% students with learning differences.
Check with the other private schools before you jump to conclusions. Parents of students who are home-schooled or attend private schools are taxpayers, also. Don't they deserve equal consideration in the use of tax money?

Private schools teach the basics: math, science, language and history. They also teach faith, morals, and self-discipline, which is not allowed in the public schools.
Please be fair in your reporting of this issue.
Childhood and youth are a short span in the average life. If we waste that precious fertile time in inconsequential learning, we are doomed to a lifetime of non-achieving.
