An Ockerman Middle School teacher is facing criminal charges in Boone County. "It's just really scary. Another thing to worry about with our children in this world," Ockerman Middle School parent, Jennifer Zaffiro said.According to a complaint, Kevin Niehaus was being investigated after inappropriate relationship allegations between him and students started circulating.Investigators say they found Niehaus used a secure database to research students' personal information and student locker locations.Officials say he placed a gift in a 13-year-old's locker prior to the first day of school with their locker combination. "I'm glad they caught it quick, and I just wish we didn't have people doing those kinds of things while teaching our kids," Zaffiro said.Boone County Sheriff's Office says Niehaus is facing 10 counts of Unlawful Access to Computer. For Zaffiro whose daughter attends Ockerman Middle School, this is concerning. "I don't even like that she knows there's something wrong, and she knew of this teacher, and so it's unsettling," Zaffiro said.The investigation also found Niehaus performed more than 20 searches on at least 10 students that are not in his class or had ever been in his class. We reached out to Boone County Schools for comment, but have not received a response.Niehaus is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 24.
