Meta's instant messaging app WhatsApp is rolling out a slew of Instagram-like feature updates including status mention (or tags), status likes, and background filters for video calls. The AR photo filters will be available in the new app update. It also is rolling out a 'like' feature for statuses on the app. Now viewing and responding to a status will be non-invasive with minimal communication. Just let them know you have viewed and approved of their life or career updates. However since statues disappear and cannot be archived like Instagram stories, the user won't be able to access the data for likes after twenty four hours. Another exciting add-on being integrated on WhatsApp is the mention or tag feature. The users will be able to privately tag friends or family on their visual status updates. This will also enable the tagged contact to reshare the WhatsApp status that features them. These features will be slowly rolled out to global users with app updates on the phone. Don't panic, if you don't immediately see these features on your WhatsApp sooner.
