A Batesville man died in a crash on Arkansas 69 in Independence County early Tuesday, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Malcom Hix, 49, died around 4:39 a.m. Tuesday after the 2006 Kenworth truck he was driving south on Arkansas 69 near the Ozark Mountain Poultry Feed Mill collided with the trailer of a 2021 Peterbilt truck that was turning left from a private drive into the northbound lane of the highway, the report states.
After the collision, the Kenworth and the Peterbilt's trailer both caught fire, the report states. The Peterbilt's driver was not listed as being injured.
A trooper investigating the wreck reported that the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time.
