Amazon-owned Eero has announced the release of its first outdoor product, the eero Outdoor 7. This device is designed to extend Wi-Fi coverage beyond the walls of a home or business to provide connectivity for outdoor activities and devices.

The eero Outdoor 7 is made to extend Wi-Fi outside the home, so it's built to withstand many weather conditions. This includes extreme temperatures, rain, and snow. It has been tested in a range of environments, from the heat of Arizona to the cold of Alaska, and has been certified with an IP66 rating. This means the device is dust-tight and can work even after getting hit with powerful jets of water. The Outdoor 7 can operate at temperatures ranging from -40°F to 130°F.

Users can mount the device on many types of walls, including stucco, vinyl, wood, and fiber cement. It also features a 2.5GbE port that supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), which means it can be powered by an eero PoE Gateway or a separate 30W Outdoor PoE+ power adapter. One eero Outdoor 7 can give up to 15,000 square feet of outdoor coverage. For larger properties, multiple Outdoor 7 devices can be used to create a point-to-point connection and extend the network across the entire property.

The eero Outdoor 7 includes the same technology and features found in other eero devices, including TrueMesh networking, TrueChannel, and TrueRoam. These features should help to make sure the user's Wi-Fi works well, regardless of location. The device also supports Wi-Fi 7 and delivers wireless speeds up to 2.1 Gbps. The eero Outdoor 7 also works as a smart home hub, and can work with Thread, Zigbee, and Matter devices. It is compatible with the eero Plus service, which has online security features, parental controls, internet backup during outages, and access to security apps like 1Password, Malwarebytes, and Guardian.
