Maybe you caught the USA Network bug back in the day and indulged in crowd-pleasing TV delights like Royal Pains, Burn Notice, and, say, Suits. The latter has since seen a wild resurgence on Netflix and is now getting a spinoff titled Suits: LA, with an ensemble cast that has been slowly unveiled. Even one of the O.G. stars, Gabriel Macht, will return as the infamous Harvey for a few episodes in the upcoming spinoff -- but what about his partner-in-crime? MovieWeb just caught up with the always superb Patrick J. Adams amid his new film's release to gauge his interest in possibly reviving his Suits character, Michael Ross, at any point.
"Yeah, I think if it was valuable, and it felt like something that made sense and that was helpful to that story. I'm not 100% sure of the story of Suits: LA and those characters and what they're dealing with there, but if it felt like it was organic and something that was fun for everybody to do, then I'm more than open to it," Adams told us, adding:
"It was such a remarkable part of my life, and I'm also more than happy to leave it exactly where it is and just be grateful for it. So, I don't know, I'm still in touch with Aaron [Korsh], and we talk all the time [...] So I feel very much in the family of the show. So if it makes sense, and we find some story that's worth telling, then I'm always available. But, you know, we're putting no pressure on them by any means."
Patrick J. Adams Elaborates on His Recent 'Suits' Comments
Adams also addressed those recent headline-making comments he made on actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast, detailing the real reasons why he left the original Suits. He opened up about his past struggles with alcohol and depression tied to the show, especially during the later seasons. Given what Adams had said to Ferguson, we were curious if the Suits experience might make Adams shy away from playing future TV characters that might have the same kind of longevity.

Netflix provided Suits with a huge resurgence in popularity so it's time for a reboot. What better way to prepare than by revisiting Suits' best work?

"Well, first of all, I don't even know if that exists anymore in the current climate of television, and you can never know what you're committing to," Adams told us. "When we sign up for television, any television show... you sign up for multiple years. So you're in it for the long haul. And I have no problem being in it for the long haul. The things that I talked about on Jesse's podcast, and the struggle of Suits, had as much to do with just my age and lack of experience, and how to condition myself to do that for as long as I needed to do it. And, you know, feeling very far and separate from Troian, who's now my wife but at the time was my girlfriend."
"And there was so much going on contextually that I wasn't prepared for and that no one tells you," continued Adams, adding:
"When you get a show at 27 years old, no one in Hollywood goes like, 'Here, sit down. Let me tell you how this is gonna be for the next five years, because it could be quite complicated. And here's how best to prepare yourself.' No one gives you that book. You just show up and work like crazy and then kind of get spit out at the end of every season and go, 'What? What just happened?'"
"I'm older now," said Adams. "I've learned more about how to take care of myself, how to pace myself, how to be prepared, you know, how to be really clear about what I want to do with a part and what I want to do with my day's work. It's a totally different thing now than it was before. I have more information. So yeah, I'm totally open to it." In the meantime, Adams' new Lionsgate film, Young Werther, is in theaters, on digital, and on demand.
