Drinking water advisory lifted in Louisa County

Water in Louisa County is now safe to drink without boiling beforehand.

The Louisa County Water Authority Waterworks lifted the advisory Thursday, two days after it was issued.

The advisory was issued after repairs on a tank caused a drop in water pressure. Drops in pressure can expose the water supply to harmful bacteria. The advisory only ever affected those residents served by the Louisa County Water Authority Northeast Creek System.

"Bacteriological samples collected on November 19, 2024 and November 20, 2024 were absent of total coliform bacteria and E. coli indicating the loss of pressure did not result in the introduction of these bacteria into the water system," according to a Louisa County statement issued Thursday.

For more information, county residents can contact Pam Baughman, general manager of the Louisa County Water Authority, at (540) 967-1122.
