After season 1 left viewers with a cliffhanger ending, Irish Blood, starring Alicia Silverstone, is confirmed for season 2. The first season focused on an L.A. divorce lawyer, Fiona Sharpe, portrayed by Silverstone. Fiona gets a package from her estranged father, which leads her to Ireland to find out secrets and lies about her family.
The show premiered back in August on Acorn TV, where it had the most-watched premiere in the streaming service's history. The premiere episode's success led to the most subscription signups in two years for Acorn TV, and the series also has a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from five reviews.
After this successful first season, Irish Blood has been renewed for season 2. The season will continue its structure of six hour-long episodes and production for season 2 is slated to begin in early 2026. Check out Silverstone's statement below:
"It means so much to continue this journey with a character I love. Thank you to everyone who's watched and supported and to the phenomenal Irish crew and actors who made working there such a joy, and to the entire team across this series. We're so happy to have found a captive audience who enjoyed the ride from beginning to end."
What This Update Means For Irish Blood
Irish Blood season 2 will be set and produced in Ireland, so the story will continue there. When it comes to the cast and the story that season 2 will tell, that is yet to be revealed.
Given that viewers were left on such a cliffhanger from the season 1 finale, loose ends will need to be tied up during season 2. The second season will allow for a continuation of the story and the character development that has been happening throughout the show, and for fans to be able to follow that for another season.
With that being said, season 2 will inevitably focus more on Alicia Silverstone's Fiona and navigating her newly found family, along with her complex emotions. With Fiona staying in Ireland, audiences will likely see her struggling with her identity, and questioning where she belongs, as well as her reconciling with everything that she has recently uncovered.
Our Take On Irish Blood Being Being Renewed For Season 2
It comes as no surprise that the show that had the most watched streaming premiere in Acorn TV history, and is their most watched series, was confirmed to come back for a second season. As indicated by the show's perfect Tomatometer score, the Irish Blood reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. With the cliffhanger that the show left its viewers on, it was probably suspected that it would be continuing the story.
Season 2 of Irish Blood is sure to do well, given its extreme success during its first season. Along with that, the story of Fiona and her discoveries that she made in Ireland will be continued for the fans to follow along.
