Public Service Commission warns of telephone scam with suspects posing as PSC employees - WV MetroNews

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Public Service Commission is warning citizens about a recent scam that has gone around with false representatives of the PSC to illegally obtain financial records of customers.

The PSC received a notice from a Boone County woman saying a man who identified himself as a PSC employee offered a program providing $250 per month for a six-month period.

PSC Chairman Charlotte R. Lane says questions about banking information is a sign the person does not work for the PSC.

"A PSC employee would never ask a customer for his or her financial or banking information," Lane said. "If anyone calls you seeking such information or offering such a program in the name of the PSC, please hang up and call your local law-enforcement agency."
