Russian Woman Allegedly Harassed By Man In Udaipur Infront Of Her Indian Husband; Netizens Demand Police Action

A travelling YouTuber going by the name Mithilesh Backpacker detailed a distressing experience during a recent visit to Udaipur, Rajasthan. While exploring the scenic City Palace with his Russian wife, Lisa and their young son, Mithilesh allegedly encountered harassment by a man, which he captured on video and later shared online.

Mithilesh was in the process of filming his family's journey through the historic site when a man allegedly made a particularly offensive, sexually-charged remark to his wife. This comment, "6,000 INR?", has a derogatory connotation often used in jest, but this time, it was anything but humorous.

Reacting swiftly, Mithilesh turned his camera towards the offender, confronting him directly on the spot. Despite the man's denials, the YouTuber, visibly upset, threatened to involve the police. However, what ensued was even more disheartening.

According to Mithilesh, the security personnel at City Palace did not aid in the situation but instead advised him to let the issue slide rather than escalate it to law enforcement. This response from the security led to further criticism from Mithilesh, who publicly questioned the safety measures in place for women, particularly foreign tourists, in India.

"I was so angry. I was with my wife. How can people behave in this manner? It was very shocking and very shameful for me. My wife came to India... I wanted to promote Indian tourism, that India is so beautiful, so safe. And when something like this happens, what do I do?" he says in the video.

The video, which was posted earlier this month, has since gone viral, amassing more than 332k views and sparking widespread outrage on social media platforms.

Angered by the misdemeanour, viewers demanded police action against the culprits. "Udaipur police should take action. These people are brining shame to India," a viewer commented on the video.

"Government should take action against all these guys," a second viewer said.

"This not just happen with foreigners, even if you are on a trip with your Indian wife or gf in tourist place or in a garden this type of goons will pass comments too," another wrote.
