We're in for a treat tonight as there will be a full moon to view and a partial lunar eclipse. A Harvest Moon is called such because it's a full moon that occurs closest to the fall equinox. It will also be a Supermoon so it will appear bigger and brighter in the sky.
In addition, there will be a partial lunar eclipse. This is when the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun with Earth's shadow being cast on the Moon. Tonight, the partial eclipse will start at 7:41 p.m. CT. This is when the Moon enters Earth's partial shadow. However, you may find it hard to view any dimming until 9:13 p.m. CT. The peak will happen around 9:44 p.m. CT when the top eight percent of the Moon will be in full shadow, according to NASA. The Moon will finish exiting the full shadow at 10:16 p.m. CT.
The weather will be mostly clear to partly cloudy tonight with temperatures falling to the low 60s by Wednesday morning. Areas of dense fog may occur overnight and into Wednesday morning.
