LA Dodgers make major decision over Clayton Kershaw's future amid injury fears

CLAYTON KERSHAW has agreed a new deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to ESPN, Kershaw 36, has reached an agreement with the Dodgers for a one-year contract.

The pitcher has returned to the training facility and already started throwing the ball after a series of injuries.

However, the star Texan still has to finish going through his physical in Los Angeles.

The deal is expected to guarantee the player between $5million (£4m) and $10m (£8m) in 2025.

The new contract is expected to include a multitude of performance bonuses.

Kershaw was limited to just seven games last season with the Dodgers.

That is after going through foot and knee surgeries in November.

Kershaw has spent his entire career with the Dodgers, whom he joined in 2008.

The famous pitcher has since spent a whopping 16 years in LA.

Kershaw is just 32 strikeouts from becoming the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach 3,000.

His return could give head coach Dave Roberts the luxury of an extra arm for the coming season.

Team-mate Austin Barnes recently said: "He kind of epitomizes how to compete, what it means to be a Dodger ever since I've been here.

"He kind of sets the tone for everything, just the way he works and carries himself."
