The No. 3/4 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's hockey team was blanked at home Friday night by No. 1 Wisconsin, 5-0.

The Gophers were outshot by the Badgers 32-18, the largest shots-on-goal margin for Minnesota this season.

It marks the first time Minnesota has been shut out by an opponent since Feb. 17, 2024, also by the Badgers.

The Badgers dominated early on as Cassie Hall started the scoring late in the first period.

Minnesota held Wisconsin scoreless on two power play opportunities in the first period but were outshot 14-5.

Despite the lack of offensive output, he Gophers did well defensively in the second period, allowing 10 shots but no goals against Wisconsin. The Gophers had a power play opportunity on offense but failed to put the puck in the net.

Unfortunately for Minnesota, the Badgers opened up the game in the third period, scoring four goals on eight shots on goal.

"Really disappointing," head coach Brad Frost said. "We're one-nothing going into the third, and in six minutes they score four goals and blow the whole thing open. Obviously, we got to be better in all facets."

The Gophers will take on the Badgers again on Saturday with the puck dropping at 3 p.m. CT.
