Generic waffle brands at retailers across the U.S. are being recalled after listeria, a potentially fatal bacterial disease, was detected at a manufacturing facility, according to announcement from the Food and Drug Administration.
TreeHouse Foods, the company behind generic frozen waffles carried by popular retailers like Target, Walmart and H-E-B, said it became aware of the contamination "through routine testing at the manufacturing facility," in a Friday news release. The recalled products include a wide range of brand names like Great Value, Good & Gather and H-E-B Higher Harvest. TreeHouse Foods said it had not yet received any reports of illnesses directly attributable to the recalled waffles.
